It has been over 30 years since viewers last sawJanet Hubertas a series regular in a TV series when she played OG Aunt Viv onThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Following her exit from the popular sitcom, the 66-year-old Chicago native claimed for years that she had been blackballed from working in the industry after being considered “difficult to work with.” She also viewed her “terrible contract” as an attempt to put her in her place and eventually filed a lawsuit, feeling that Will Smith influenced NBC in reducing her salary and airtime.

Smith and the actress have made amends, and she has since reclaimed her acting career over the years, making several appearances on shows likePoseandThe Last O.G. and has a couple of projects in post-production. Now, Janet Hubert will star as a series regular again in the six-episode sci-fi comedyDemascus, which is set to premiere next year on AMC and AMC+.
