Peacemakerhas been a wildly successful show for HBO Max. And now, according to tweets from series creator James Gunn and starJohn Cena,Peacemakeris coming back for a second season.
The series, written and directed byJames Gunn, features Cena in the titular role. Following on from the events of Gunn’sSuicide Squadmovie from 2021, Peacemaker returns home a free man, but he finds that freedom is not as simple as just being set free.
Accordingto a report on Deadline about the renewal, Gunn will write and direct all episodes for the second season, much as he did with the first season. It is a formula that worked well for the wildly popular series, and it is no surprise that HBO Max will continue to give Gunn the reins for this project.

Peacemakeris widely considered to be one of the best DC properties brought to cinema or TV in this era. Most people felt that it was not a matter of if the show would be renewed but when.
Gunn wrote the scripts for the entire first season in 8 weeks of COVID quarantine, not expecting the show to be picked up. No one knew whenPeacemakerwas picked up that it would be one of HBO Max’s most successful series.
John Cena Has Enjoyed PromotingPeacemaker
Series star John Cena has had a lot of fun with promotion for bothSuicide SquadandPeacemaker. He has taken to wearing the costume wherever he can to promote his role. Cena is clearly having fun with the role.
In fact, leading up to the premiere ofPeacemaker, Cena had a mission never to take off the costume as much as he possibly could in public.
During a convention appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, Cena spent the entire weekend in full Peacemaker costume to promote the show.
Cena loves playing Peacemaker, and the fans are clearly loving the show.
