Back in March, a few months beforeGothamclosed out its first season,Jada Pinkett Smithrevealed that she will not be back as the villainous Fish Mooney inSeason 2. At the time, the actress claimed she had only signed on for one season of the hit Fox show, which is currently on its midseason hiatus, set to return on February 29. Today,TV Lineis reporting that the actress just signed on for a multi-episode arc inGotham Season 2. Fox has confirmed that the actress is in fact coming back, but no details about her return were given.

In theSeason 1finale,Fish Mooneywas pushed out of a warehouse and into the sea by her arch-nemesis Penguin (Robin Taylor). We never saw her actually die, or resurface after her fall, so her fate was left up in the air. It seems that she did actually survive, but it isn’t known how she will get back toGotham. One can only imagine that she will seek revenge against the Penguin, who will have plenty of his own problems to worry about.

When the show returns, Penguin takes a hit for Theo Galavan’s murder, but doesn’t let Gordon (Ben McKenzie) off easily. Meanwhile, Gordon and Bullock (Donal Logue) investigate the body-snatching spree of Victor Fries (guest starNathan Darrow), one of Gotham’s preeminent cryogenics engineers. At the very end of the fall finale, fans got their first look at Fries, a.k.a. Mr. Freeze, who will return in the midseason premiere on February 29.

Showrunner and series creatorBruno Hellerpreviously teased that Fish Mooney could resurface onGotham, andJada Pinkett Smithherself hinted that “she could show up anywhere.” The back half of this season will also introduce fans to Tucker Cobblepot (Paul Reubens), Penguin’s father. Earlier this season, Penguin’s psyche was shattered when he learned that his beloved mother (Carol Kane) had been killed by Theo Galavan (James Frain). Penguin has also formed an alliance with the future Riddler, a.k.a. Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith).

Other iconic villains set to debut this season include Clayface, Mad Hatter andHugo Strange.B.D. Wong, who plays Hugo Strange, teased that he “thinks” his character will debut on the February 29 episode, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
