Is Vin Diesel Black Bolt in Marvel's Inhumans?

Back in December,Guardians of the GalaxystarVin Dieselteased that he may be up for a role in anotherMarveladventure,Inhumans, with a cryptic message on his official Facebook page. Of course, no one has been officially cast forInhumansyet, with theMarveladventure hitting theaters on June 25, 2025. During a new interview withio9, the actor revealed that he has been in talks with the studio to play a character that wouldn’t require his voice, which many fans think is Black Bolt fromInhumans.

“I can totally be something [else] withMarvel. I think playing that role only makesMarvelthat much more excited and me having my experience withMarvel, seeing how great they were, makes me more excited. We’ve heard a lot of talk aboutMarvelwanting to have me play a character that doesn’t have my voice. So my voice is used forGrootand my presence is used for the other character.”

In theMarvel Comics, Black Bolt (a.k.a. Blackagar Boltagon) is the leader of the Inhumans, a character who has a voice that can emit destructive power that he chooses to remain silent for most of the time. Of course, it hasn’t been confirmed that Black Bolt will even be part of theInhumansstory, but his presence certainly seems likely. It’s possible thatVin Dieselis referring to a completely different character, but it isn’t known who he may be talking about.

Last week, a rumor surfaced thatInhumansmay actually be canceled, due to a conflict betweenMarvel’s movie and TV divisions. The studio’sMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.has been setting up theInhumansstory, with the reveal thatChloe Bennet’s Skye is actually an Inhuman named Daisy Johnson, a.k.a. Quake. Last month, it was revealed thatMarvelStudios presidentKevin Feigehas restructured his deal with Disney, which allows him to report directly to the studio, instead of Marvel Entertainment CEOIsaac “Ike” Perlmutter. However, the TV division still remains underIsaac “Ike” Perlmutter’s purview, which has said to have caused a rift between the movie and TV divisions.

Inhumansdoesn’t have a director lined up yet or a screenwriter quite yet.Joe Robert Cole, who signed on to writeBlack Pantherlast week, wrote an initial draft, but we reported last week that the writer’s draft isn’t expected to be used inInhumans.
