Next year,DC Comicsfans will finally get the superhero ensemble movie they’ve been waiting years for, whenJustice Leaguehits theaters on November 17. Some fans may remember that there was almost another version of theJustice Leaguenearly a decade ago, directed byGeorge Miller, that never came to fruition, due to the writers strike in 2007, which featured a cast of rising stars, includingArmie Hammeras Batman. Today we have word that, nearly a decade later,Armie Hammermay be joining the DC Extended Universe in an upcoming movie, which may actually beBen Affleck’sThe Batman.

Batman-Newsnoticed thatArmie Hammerwas recently followed on Twitter by both DC Films presidentGeoff Johns, who is also co-writingThe Batmanwith director/starBen Affleck, andJoe Manganielllo, who was confirmed in September to playDeathstrokeinThe Batman. While this is by no means a confirmation thatArmie Hammerhas been cast in some capacity onThe Batman, Twitter activity has foreshadowed real news in the past. Just beforeRick Famuyiwasigned on to directThe Flash, Batman-News noticed that the filmmaker had started following a number of DC-related Twitter accounts, such asGeoff JohnsGal Gadot,Zack Snyder,Ben Affleck,Ray FisherandJason Momoa.

Even ifArmie Hammerhas landed a role in thisBatman reboot, we don’t have any indication of who he may be playing. Aside fromBen Affleckas Batman andJoe Manganielloas Deathstroke, no other cast members have been confirmed. It is believed thatJ.K. Simmons(Commissioner Gordon) andJeremy Irons(Alfred Pennyworth) will reprise their roles fromJustice Leauge, but nothing is set in stone at this time. Warner Bros. hasn’t issued a release date quite yet, but Time Warner presidentJeff Bewkesteased that the movie is “a year and a half out.”

Last month,Joe Manganiellosaid thatproduction startsin the spring of 2017, but that production date has yet to be confirmed. No story details have been released at this time, butBen Affleckhas teased that this story will be mostly original, although there will be parts of the story that will be taken from unspecified comic books. There were rumors that this movie will feature the iconic villain Red Hood, but that report was debunked. There has also been talk that it will feature “just about every major bad guy” from the Batman comics.

Back in April, Warner Bros. set June 17, 2025 and November 1, 2019release datesfor two unspecified DCEU movies, with many speculating that one of those dates is being held for thisBatmanmovie. The studio hasn’t confirmed what movies will be taking those dates at this time, but it’s possible that one of the other movies could beSuicide Squad 2, which the studio reportedly wanted to start filming next year. DirectorDavid Ayerand hisSuicide SquadstarWill Smithare currently filmingBrightfor Netflix, but it hasn’t been confirmed if they will return forSuicide Squad 2. Hopefully we’ll have more onThe Batmanin the near future.
