Indiana Jones 5is definitely happening with star Harrison Ford set to return as the iconic archeologist and director Steven Spielberg behind the lens for this next freewheeling adventure. Now, Spielberg has confirmed that this long-awaited sequel will officially begin production in April 2019, with location shooting to take place in the U.K.

And now, his next sci-fi masterpieceReady Player Oneis almost ready for release after premiering at the SXSW film festival to unanimous praise. The director is back to his genre roots, andIndiana Jones 5should reestablish Henry Jones Jr. as the premiere adventurer for all ages. Even if the character is well into his 70s.

Spielberg appeared at the Empire Awards last night, where he officially announced theproduction start dateforIndiana Jones 5. The shoot is just a little more than a year away, as the script continues to be worked on. The director had this to say about his future endeavors.
“It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers, everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when Icome back in April 2019to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here.”
Indiana Jones 5has already been given an official June 03, 2025 release date by Disney. Franchise producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshal are back in the fray. And David Koepp, the man behind theIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullscript, is back writing this new tale for the famed college professor and treasure seeker. The story is being kept under lock and key for the time being, but it’s been strongly rumored that Indy’s wife Marion Ravenwood will be back. Sadly their sonMutt Williams will be MIA.
Indiana Jones first appeared in the 1981 classicRaiders of the Lost Ark. The character has gone onto have a strong life in both film and television with the sequelsIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doomin 1984,Indiana Jones and the Last Crusadein 1989 andIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullin 2008. ABC ranThe Young Adventures of Indiana Jonesin 1992, and the franchise even has its own popular Disneyland ride.
Disney claims thatIndiana Jones 5won’t be the last movie in the franchise, but it looks like it will definitely be thelast outing for Harrison Fordand Steven Spielberg, with a younger team to take over sometime in the future, with someone else stepping into play the character in post-Ford installments. Chris Pratt was an early favorite for the role, but that will all be decided at a much later date, after the next movie arrives in 2020.
