Marvel has its sights set on Hailee Steinfeld for a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s come to light that the Oscar-nominee has been offered the role of Kate Bishop in the upcomingHawkeyeTV series, which is in the works for the Disney+ streaming service. Should things proceed according to plan, Steinfeld would star alongside Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton in the series and, in all likelihood, she would be a major part of this universe moving forward.

It’s clear this is who Marvel Studios wants, but it’s now a matter of whether or not theBumblebeeandPitch Perfect 2star wants to spend a major chunk of her future slinging arrows alongside other heroes in the MCU. Undoubtedly, the plan is for Jeremy Renner to pass the torch to Kate Bishop, whether or not Steinfeld accepts the role, and that would carry on beyond the Disney+ show. As such, it would be a major commitment. It hasn’t yet been revealed who, if any other stars on the studio’s radar, should Steinfeld pass.

Given the events ofAvengers: Endgame, it’s easy to see why Clint would be ready to hand off some of his superhero duties to someone else. It’s been expected that Kate Bishop would appear in the MCU for years, with rumors suggesting she was going to appear inAvengers: Endgame. That didn’t turn out to be the case, but then it was confirmed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during San Diego Comic-Con that the character would be brought into the MCU fold in the upcoming series.

Marvel will have a much stronger presence on the small screen in Phase 4 and beyond than it has in the past.
Hailee Steinfeld made a big splash when she starred inTrue Gritback in 2010, which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. She’s since gone on to star in other hits such asPitch Perfect 3andThe Edge of Seventeen. Steinfeld is also starring in the upcoming Apple showDickinson.
