Harrison Ford, who reprises his role as Han Solo inStar Wars: The Force Awakenslater this year, is in serious condition at a local Los Angeles hospital after he suffered multiple head injuries in a plane crash earlier today. The actor, a longtime and avid pilot, was flying a vintage two-seat plane today, when something apparently went wrong and he crash-landed at the Penmar Golf Course in Mar Vista, California. The actor did walk away from the crash, but suffered multiple head injuries, and was treated by two doctors who happened to be on the golf course, until emergency personnel arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital.

Sources first described the actor’s injuries as “critical,” butNBC News' sources stressed that his injuries “are better characterized as serious, including lacerations to the head and possible fractures.” The crash happened at approximately 2:25 PM, shortly after the plane took off from the Santa Monica Airport, according toIan Gregorof the Federal Aviation Administration.
