Hollywood icons Halle Berry andAngelina Joliewill join forces for the first time in the upcoming action flickMaude v Maude. As per an earlier report byDeadline,Maude v Maudehas been given the tantalizing description of being a “Bond vs. Bourne” style global action thriller. Which sounds like not only the perfect vehicle for the two actresses to once again demonstrate their particular set of skills, but also every action movie fans dream.
Following what has been called an “aggressive” bidding war between studios for the project, Warner Bros. Pictures has emerged victorious and will now distributeMaude v Maude. The action outing comes as part of co-studio heads, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, and their plan to push for movie star-centric projects. An action movie led by Halle Berry andAngelina Jolie certainly fits those parameters.
Filmmaker Roseanne Liang, who is best known for the likes of the action horror outingShadow in the Cloud, the miniseriesUnboxed, and the upcoming live-action adaptation ofAvatar: The Last Airbender, is on board to helmMaude v Maude. Both Berry and Jolie are on board to produce the project along with Berry’s producing partner Holly Jeter via their banner HalleHolly.
Further details forMaude v Maudeare being kept under wraps, but the description of the movie being “Bond vs. Bourne” offers some insight into what audiences can expect. Clearly,Maude v Maudewill pit Berry and Jolie against each other, with one perhaps playing a suave, well-resourced spy while the other portrays a less refined, street level assassin. In any case, the idea of Berry and Jolie together at last is more than exciting enough for now.
