Guy Pearcehas plenty of experience in Hollywood, starring in films such asMemento,L.A. Confidential,The Rover, andThe Hurt Locker. However, there is one film and one character in particular that the actor would love to return to. Pearce starred opposite Robert Downey Jr. inIron Man 3, where he would portray the film’s antagonist, Aldrich Killian. What starts as a sympathetic, misunderstood villain quickly turns into something more as Killian does everything in his power to eliminate Tony Stark, and he almost succeeds during the movie’s climax. But, of course, Stark wins the final showdown, and Killian is seemingly killed toward the film’s end.

However, this is the MCU, meaning no one is ever truly dead. Pearce recognizes the possibilities withinMarvel and has let it be knownthat he would love to see his character return at some point. Now, in an interview withComicBook.com, the 54-year-old actor is reiterating his statement, saying he hasn’t gotten a call from Marvel but would love to return to the long-running franchise. “I can’t say. I’m still waiting on an email back from Marvel. It’s been a couple of years now, but I’ll let you know,” he says.

Iron Man 3wasreleased in 2013, meaning it’s been nearly a decade since Pearce was involved in the massive connected universe. He admits it’s difficult to imagine a return for his character following his death, but anything is possible with Marvel. “No, I haven’t actually. Um, and I suppose I’ve just written off the idea because of what happened to Aldrich Killian at the end ofIron Man 3but at the same time, within those worlds kind of anything is possible,” he says. “And yet I still haven’t received a call from anyone at Marvel. So I’m not sure if it’s in the works but who knows.”

Guy Pearce Wouldn’t be the First Actor to Return FromIron Man 3

Ben Kingsley portrayed the Mandarin inIron Man 3before he was revealed to be an actor. His character was actually Trevor Slattery, acting as a stand-in for the ultimate villain played by Pearce. Although Slattery didn’t die in the finalIron Maninstallment, fans were unsure whether they would see his character again after the 2013 film.

Of course, Kingsley would reprise his role inShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsin 2021, bringing his character back to the forefront of the MCU even if he acted mainly as a comedic side character. However, that wasn’t the end of his character either, with Kingsley returning to his Slattery role once again in theupcoming Disney+ series,Wonder Man. Guy Pearce would be interested in returning as hisIron Man 3co-star did, even if his introduction would be a little more convoluted following his death.
