Some movie experts would have everyone believe that the interconnected stories of the MCU are a terrible thing or that sequel movies within the franchise are a problem as they usually require some prior knowledge of the characters to become fully immersed in the story. However, following the stratospheric performance ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, the universe-breaking promises ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the fan calls for some kind of trailer forThor: Love and Thunderto be released, it is clear that Marvel fans have a different opinion. So new images from theGuardians of the Galaxy 3shoot in Atlanta, Georgia have already started to get people excited for the last MCU movie of James Gunn even though it doesn’t arrive in cinemas until next year. The new images showDave BautistaandPom Klementieffarriving on set in full make-up of their respective characters of Drax and Mantis. Partly dressed in costume, the stars made their way from their vehicle to the area where they were due to film, with Bautista partially covered in a long blue cloak and Klementieff wearing a bomber jacket and carrying a backpack.
Today was the first time that the stars have been on set, so there is a long way yet to go on the movie. As James Gunn has promised, it is going to be an emotional, action-packed rollercoaster of a ride; there is no doubt that the director will be using his time filming to really savor what is expected to be his last time out for Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Will Bring The Superhero Team’s Current Iteration to an End
While the firstGuardians of the Galaxymovie seemed to be one of the more fun entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is clear that the third solo outing for the group is not going to be a barrel of laughs by any means. While the Guardians will be first seen inThor: Love and Thunder, and theGuardians Holiday Specialahead of the movie’s release in May 2023 as one of the final movies of the MCU’s Phase Four, there is already a big expectation for the film and the story arcs it will conclude.
While there are rumors that this will be the last outing for Bautista’s Drax, Gamora actress Zoe Saldana revealed toEmpire Magazinethat being back for what could be the final time is “bittersweet” and something she “feels nostalgic” about. She also teased how complex Gamora’s is by the time the third movie kicks in. She said:
“She began as this warrior wanting to get out of a very toxic parental relationship, then she finds the Guardians who are dysfunctional-ish as well, but they’re okay. She learns a lot and finds this bigger purpose. Then her dad comes and f***s everything up. She dies, she’s brought back, but it’s not her. I think Gamora’s a little confused, I have to say! But James [Gunn] has weaved this wonderful story around the character and every character in this third film.”
