Back in January, it was confirmed that Netflix is bringing back yet another beloved show from a bygone era, with theGilmore Girls Revivalslated to debut later this year. Original series starsLauren Graham(Lorelai),Alexis Bledel(Rory),Scott Patterson(Luke) and Kelly Bishop (Emily),Sean Gunn(Kirk) and Keiko Agena (Lane) had finalized their deals to return, with production beginnning in February. Today,Entertainment Weeklyhas the first official photos from thisrevival, featuring Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and many more cast members. Here’s what Lauren Graham had to say about her return to Stars Hollow.
“You know how you finish college and you’re a few years older and you’re like, ‘I wish I could go do this now ‘cause I would appreciate it so much more and understand it and get more out of it’? That’s the opportunity I have with this and I appreciate every day that I’m here.”
These photos also reveal that Alexis Bledel’s Rory has now become a teacher, while giving us our first look at returning cast members Rose Abdoo as Gypsy, Sally Struthers as Babette,Scott Pattersonas Luke and Kelly Bishop as Emily.Edward Herrmannplayed Emily’s on-screen husband Richard, but he passed away in 2014, and this character will be honored in the new series. Unfortunately, no plot details have been released at this time.
The Gilmore Girls Revival Event Series will consist of four 90-minute episodes that are essentially being crafted as “mini-movies.” Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino, who served as an executive producer on theoriginal series, will both write and direct the four episodes. These episodes are said to be set in present day, and will unfold over the course of one year, with each episode said to take place over each of the four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall.
Other returning cast members include Yanic Truesdale,Jared Padalecki,Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, Liza Weil. This new report also reveals that Sutton Foster andMae Whitmanwill be coming aboard asspecial guest stars, but no details were given regarding their characters.
