Sony is finally rebooting one of it’s most infamous franchises this summer withGhostbusters, which finds an all-female crew taking over for the previous spirit chasers. And in a unique twist,Annie Potts’s secretary is being replaced by Marvel heavyweightChris Hemsworth. We have your first look atChris Hemsworth’s Kevin in 5 new photos below.
These latest images also give us a new look at the main cast of Ghostbusters.Kristen Wiigleads this crew, starring as Erin Gilbert. She is joined byMelissa McCarthyas Abby Yates.Kate McKinnonstars as Jillian Holtzmann. AndLeslie Jonesbrings up the backend as Patty Tolan.
These newGhostbustersexist in an entirely different universe than the 1984Ghostbusters. The story centers on Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), who, years ago, wrote a book that posited ghosts do in fact exist. The plot picks up with Erin acquiring a teaching position at the prestigious Columbia University. She is laughed off campus once word of her book surfaces. At the same time, Abby is working with a new partner Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon), just as a new slew of ghosts begin to invade New York City. Erin ends up joining forces with Abby and Jillian, along with a new partner Patty (Leslie Jones), to save the Big Apple from these ghosts.Entertainment Weeklyhad this to say about some of the spooks these girls will chase.

The supporting cast includesAndy Garciaas the mayor of New York City,Michael K. Williamsas Hawkins,Matt Walshas Rourke, Pat Kiernan as a news anchor andNeil Caseyas the human villain. No details have been given for any of these supporting characters at this time. They will also be joined by a number of originalGhostbustersstars.Bill Murray,Dan Aykroyd,Sigourney Weaver,Annie PottsandErnie Hudsonhave all been confirmed for cameo appearances.Bill Murrayhas been rumored to play a character named Martin Heiss, who tries to debunk theGhostbusters' claims that paranormal beings are invading the city. There are also rumors thatDan Aykroydplays a taxi driver who picks up Erin Gilbert, but no details regarding the other cameo appearances have been released yet.
Paul Feigdirects from a script he co-wrote withKatie Dippold, with originalGhostbustersdirectorIvan Reitmanproducing alongsideDan Aykroyd. Sony Pictures has set a July 15, 2016release datefor thisreboot, putting it up againstLa La Landand The Lake. It’s possible that the first trailer could debut later this week, or during the Super Bowl. While we anxiously await the first footage, here are five new photos to pore over.
