Want to suit up in George Clooney’s Batsuit? Well, it’s going to cost you. The 2023 Fall Pop Culture Elite Auction is officially underway, and Clooney’s on-screen “Hero” costume from the 1997 filmBatman & Robinis for sale. At the time of this writing, the starting bid is $50,000 for this unique piece of cinema history. The auction lot reads as follows (perGoldin):
“1997 Batman & Robin George Clooney Screen-Worn ‘Hero’ Batsuit - 76 x 37 x 18 – MEARS […] Offered is the very Batman suit used by George Clooney in the film Batman & Robin. This screen-used Batsuit is constructed from cast foam latex and vinyl, with resin components, leather, and other elements to create a singular suit.
The suit was expertly painted, finished, and assembled on a posable mannequin with a realistic mold of Clooney’s head containing prosthetic-grade fake eyes. The suit features the signature cowl, a full-length cape with two clips, a muscle tunic with the signature ‘Batman’ emblem on the chest, muscled tights, finned gauntlet gloves, and knee-high boots that give the suit a sense of realism.”

Yes,George Clooney’sBatsuit — the one with those built-in nipples — is currently up for grabs as a part of the 2023 Fall Pop Culture Elite Auction. Now, please don’t confuse the “Hero” Batsuit Clooney dons inBatman & Robin(1997) with the modified version of the Sonar costumeVal Kilmer’s interpretation of the Caped Crusaderwore inBatman Forever(1995). At the conclusion ofBatman & Robin, Bruce Wayne (Clooney) wears a variation of Kilmer’s Sonar guise (known as the Ice Armor) to defeat Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger). “This is the fifth Batsuit to appear in modern cinema, with costume illustrator Miles Teves creating the initial design and sculptor Jose Fernandez working under the direction of director Joel Schumacher.
The suit displays minor age, wear, and handling, with 76″ x 37″ x 18″ figure resting atop a 24″ x 24″x 5″ display stand to create an imposing display of the Dark Knight. The “Hero” Batsuit comes with an LOA [Letter of Authenticity] from MEARS, which assessed the suit as ‘Authentic.’”
Please note (above), the letter of authenticity from the Memorabilia Evaluation and Research Services (MEARS) states in the comments section: “The body suit is a stunt suit and the bat emblem and cape fasteners were created from originals to complete the display.” The auction is scheduled to end on Saturday, November 18, and there are currently no bids placed on the Dark Knight’s costume.
