The cast ofJustice League Part 1is currently in London, with production scheduled to start early next week. One of the big casting surprises came just a month ago, when it was announced thatJ.K. Simmonswould be taking on the role ofCommissioner Gordon. The last person to play the character on the big screen wasGary Oldman. And he certainly has some advice about taking on the job for his fellow actor.
Gary Oldmanwas recently cornered byYahooand asked his thoughts aboutJ.K. Simmonstaking over his former position. His immediate reaction was ‘God bless him. Good luck.’ He was then pressed for some advice asJ.K. Simmonsprepares to step into Gordon’s shoes for the first time later this week. The actor had this to say.
“The thing you’ve just got to get used to with Gordon is he’s a really sound detective, first of all. And he’s incorruptible, which is a kind of wonderful quality to play and sort of, like, he’s true blue. He’s like a Watson, oddly. He’s sort of like Watson to Sherlock, is Gordon to Batman.”
No story details have been revealed for Justice League Part 1, and it’s not yet clear how Gordon will play into the plot. The character is first being introduced in this epic ensemble, and did not show up in this month’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is known thatJustice Leaguetakes place in bothBatman’s hometown ofGothamand Superman’s current residing place of Metropolis.
Aside from the core group of characters already established in the DCEU, no other new casting announcements have been made for Justice League Part 1. It’s anybody’s guess who might show up. But with a cast that is already confirmed to includeHenry CavillasSuperman,Jason Momoaas Aquaman,Amy Adamsas Lois Lane,Ben Affleckas Batman,Gal Gadotas Wonder Woman,Ezra Milleras The Flash andRay Fisheras Cyborg, there isn’t much room to introduce anybody else to this party.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justiceends on a big cliffhanger, and that’s the fate of Superman. Surely he’ll return for Justice League Part 1, asHenry Cavillhas long been announced as part of the cast. We’ll have to wait until next November to join up with this team again. And it’s only then we’ll we get to see ifJ.K. SimmonstookGary Oldman’s very sound advice.
