In just under two weeks,The Flashairs itsSeason 2premiere,The Man Who Saved Central CityTuesday, October 6 at 8 PM ET onThe CW. To get fans ready for the big debut, the network has debuted a new preview that showcases thevisual effectswork done on the show. We hear from executive producer Gabrielle G. Stanton and VFX supervisor Armen V. Kevorkian, who shed some light on the extensive production process, while giving fans a sneak peek at this season’s very first villain.
It has previously been confirmed thatThe Flashseason premiere will offer our first look atAtom Smasher, played by formerWWE SuperstarEdge, a.k.a.Adam Copeland. Armen V. Kevorkian reveals that Atom Smasher has the ability to both grow and shrink as he sees fit, but unfortunately he wouldn’t offer details on any of the other new metahumans surfacing in Central City this year. Gabrielle G. Stanton reveals that their goal is to make the show look as much like a “real comic book” as possible, while teasing the extensive visual effects process where they create completely digital versions ofBarry Allenand Central City itself.
Aside from Atom Smasher, new characters confirmed to debut this season areKeiynan Lonsdaleas Wally West,Michael Ironsideplaying Lewis Snart, Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot,Violett Beaneas Jesse Quick, and Demore Barnes as Henry Hewitt. The show will also feature two characters from the midseason seriesDC’s Legends of Tomorrow,Falk Hentschel’s Hawkman andCasper Crump’s Vandall Savage. TheSeason 2premiere episode, titled The Man Who Saved Central City, airs Tuesday, October 6 at 8 PM ET on The CW.
It has also been confirmed that characters from last season, such as Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and his sister, the Golden Glider (Peyton List) will return.Tom Cavanaghwill also return as Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash, but the producers have already confirmed that he won’t be interacting with Barry Allen, since he was sent away to Earth-2 in the season finale. How he will fit into the story line is uncertain at this point, but hopefully we’ll find out in the season finale.
This season will explore the multiverse, which was teased in the season finale back in May when Barry entered the singularity known as the “speed force.” Atom Smasher will be the first metahuman to enter from Earth-2, but the second episode,Flash of Two Worldswill introduce fans to Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), who, in the comics was the very first version ofThe Flash.
