It’s been an interesting month for fans ofTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with Paramount announcing at WonderCon thatPortlandiastar/creatorFred Armisenhad come aboard to provide the voice of Krang inTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Since then, we’ve seen Krang in trailers and TV spots, but we still haven’t heard his voice. As it turns out, there’s a good reason for that, since we reported yesterday thatBrad Garretthas signed on to replaceFred Armisenafter the actor was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. With the movie set to hit theaters in exactly two weeks from today, the final trailer has arrived features Shredder and Krang teaming up to take down the Turtles once and for all!
The new trailer, which arrives from theParamount Pictures International YouTubepage, features plenty of new Krang footage, along with the rest of his villainous cohorts. Although sadly we still don’t get to hearKrangspeak. While the news ofBrad GarrettreplacingFred Armisendropped just yesterday, we don’t know for sure whenBrad Garrettactually stepped in to voice Krang, or how many lines he actually has in the movie. Regardless of how much he actually speaks, this villain will pose the biggest threat the Turtles have faced yet.
Krang isn’t the only villain the heroes in a half-shell have to worry about. Here, we get a closer look atShredder(Brian Tee), along with new footage of fan-favorites Bebop and Rocksteady (Gary Anthony WilliamsandStephen Farrelly). The villainousKrangwas first introduced in theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesanimated TV series, and is described as a “disembodied braininside a giant robot.” In this sequel, Krang will come to Earth through a mysterious portal from his home planetDimension Xand invade New York City. After losing his body, Krang surfaces on Earth with his massive fortress known as the Technodrome, which serves as a portal between Dimension X and Earth. He then teams up with Shredder, who agreed to make a new body for Krang, in exchange for letting Shredder use the Technodrome.
Dave Green(Earth to Echo) directs from a script byAndré NemecandJosh Appelbaum. The screenwriters also wrote last year’sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which took in $485 million worldwide from a $125 million budget, and they also wrote the 2011 blockbusterMission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, which was released by Paramount.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2is slated for release on June 3, putting it up against Universal Pictures’Popstar: Never Stop Stopping.
