Eric Kripke, executive producer of Prime Video’sGen Vhas given some insightinto how season 2 of the show will address the tragic passing of actor Chance Perdomo. Perdomo played Andre Anderson, a superhero with the powers of magnetism manipulation, and played a key role in season 1. However, following theuntimely death of the actor in March, due to a motorcycle accident, Kripke previously announced that the show wouldn’t recast the role. The executive producer has now given more details as to how Season 2 will handle the actor’s passing.
Speaking toTVLine, Eric Kripke confirmed that Perdomo’s death is being directly incorporated into his character’s story in season 2. Kripke described the actor as irreplaceable and gave his deepest condolences to Perdomo’s family and friends.

“We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t,” Kripke said.
He then described the emotional toll of directly reworking the actor’s death into the new season, but agreed that it was the best way to honor his legacy on the show. Kripke’s full statement read:

“First, it’s just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family. We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”
Chance Perdomo’s death marks the second time in recent history that an actor’s passing has affected their upcoming superhero project. Following Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020,Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverhad to be drastically reworked to incorporate the actor’s passing. Just likeGen Vis,Wakanda Forevermade the honorable decisionnot to recast the role, and honored the late actor within the film.
