Notorious hairdresser turned movie producerJon Peters, whose notable credits includeA Star is Born (1976), The Color Purple,andBatman, wants to make a movie aboutDonald Trump’s July assassination attempt. Speaking withThe Hollywood Reporter, Peters shared his vision for the project that would start with Trump and President Joe Biden as children. If the project, which he says would be helmed by acclaimed directorOliver Stone(more on that later), comes to fruition, he’d like to see it land on Netflix.
“The story begins with Trump as a little boy and Biden as a little boy. And you start to see how Biden was obsessed with Trump, who was always movie-star good-looking and rich.”
Stone has directed several politically focused films throughout his storied career, includingJFK, Nixon, andW (and late last year,he did question whether Trump had really lost the 2020 election). Stone’s impressive credits also include his Oscar-winning filmsPlatoon, Midnight Express,andBorn on the Fourth of July. During the last couple of years, Stone has dedicated his efforts to making documentaries, with his last narrative project being 2016’sSnowden. However, in August, news broke that Stone wanted to work on one more narrative film. No details about what that film could be about have been shared, but he denies it has anything to do with Peters' idea, as he promptly told THR that he is"not working on an assassination movie or any other project with Jon Peters."
Despite a successful career dating back to the 1970s,Peters has been accused of sexual assault in multiple incidents between 1996 and 2008, which has diminished his work in Hollywood. His most recent credit, the Bradley Cooper-ledA Star is Born, was just in name, as he holds film rights for working on the movie’s original version.
Producer Jon Peters: Donald Trump is a “Genius”
During his interview with the publication, Peter expands on his thoughts behind the assassination attempt and his support for Trump. According to the infamous producer, Biden and the government are behind the incident, and they found a guy"who believes that Trump is the enemy and the devil"to carry out their plan.
“It is Biden and that whole sick group. Now, another thing, when Biden was deciding to leave [the presidential race], they were buying out his contract for $100 million. Because he’s broke, he has no money. Now the donors put up enough money to buy him off, to pay off his notes, to give him money, and then he decided to leave. "
Peters says the project could put a target on his back and that “they may put a hit on me, not in the form of a bullet but in the form of the IRS.” During the interview,Peters further sang Trump’s praises,calling him a “genius"who “really wants to do good for people:”
“…And if you think, no matter how sweet this lady [Kamala Harris] is, [that she’s] going to do anything, when Trump has four years of dealing with these gangsters all over the world — he knows how to get it done. And you can’t replace genius. He’s a genius. He’s created himself, the biggest guy in the world, and he really wants to do good for people. People keep saying to me, ‘Oh, he could just stay home and be rich.’ No, it’s not enough. He wants to make a difference. And I understand. I do too.”
