Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edgefinally opened its second big attraction,Rise of the Resistancerecently, and it’s one of the most ambitious rides that Disney has ever produced for one of its theme parks. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been smooth sailing out of the gate, as the first two days of the ride’s run at Walt Disney World have been plagued with breakdowns and long wait times.

Rise of the Resistanceis the second ride to open atStar Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, alongsideMillennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. But this new ride is a much larger experience, running roughly 15 minutes, making it one of the longer rides inDisney Parkshistory. As such, many fans were eager to see what all of the fuss was about, which made for large crowds and high demand on opening day, December 5.

Reports of various issues flooded social media in the first two days. First and foremost, the ride was suffering breakdowns, which made it exceedingly difficult for Disney World to move people through the attraction. As a result, some visitors stood in line fruitlessly for long stretches of time. One Twitter user, who goes by lyna, explained the situation thusly.

“Rise of the resistance has broken down twice while i was in line. this is literally the second time i have been given a fast pass to come back … silence.”

Those who were in line during the breakdowns were forced to leave the area. As a result, Disney was indeed handing out fast passes to those who were in line. But, based on some of the chatter on social media, that did little to alleviate the situation for certain park goers who were caught up in the mess. Outside of the breakdowns, heavy demand made the situation difficult as well. The park turned to its virtual queue, which hands out numbers to those who wish to ride the attraction. They were all snatched up and a sign, which reads as follows, was on display outside ofRise of the Resistance.

“We apologize, at this time all boarding groups for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue have been distributed for today. Visit My Disney Experience for updates.”

Despite theStar WarsLand hiccups, those who have had the chance to enjoy the ride have praised it as one of Disney’s finest attractions to date. Some have questioned whether or notGalaxy’s Edgehas been a success, given lower than expected attendance in the early months. But many fans were likely waiting for the experience, andRise of the Resistanceis part of that experience. The ride is set to open at Disneyland on July 08, 2025.
