Hollywood is in crisis. With the writers' strike still ongoing and other organizations on the verge of joining, studios and streaming platforms need to change their calendars with many projects being delayed.Disneyis one of the most affected companies, with the House of Mouse announcing a major calendar shake up for the upcoming years.

Variety reports that the studiohas made some significant modifications in the release date for its next projects, also taking dates for already announced movies. The only one that seems to be on the right track isDeadpool 3, which takes the date of August 01, 2025, previously corresponding toCaptain America: Brave New World. Originally, Ryan Reynolds' debut in the MCU was scheduled for November 2024.

The fourth installment ofCaptain Americawill finally arrive on July 16, 2025, followed byThunderboltson December 20.Blade, which was set to be released next year, will finally debut on July 25, 2025, whileFantastic Fourwill debut on May 2 of the same year.

For their part, the next two major crossovers in theMarvel Cinematic Universe,Avengers: The Kang DynastyandAvengers: Secret Warswere also delayed to May 2026 and 2027, respectively.

WithGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3still showing in some theaters, Marvel fans still have a lot to enjoy this year, especially on Disney+. Later this month, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will be back inSecret Invasion, while Tom Hiddleston will return for the second season ofLokiin October. In November, Alaqua Cox will also make her triumph comeback inEcho. That same month, Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan y Monica Rambeau will join forces inThe Marvels.

Avatar and Star Wars Are Also a Part of Disney’s New Calendar

But Marvel Studios was not the only one affected by the modifications. The long-awaited sequels toAvatar, James Cameron’s hit franchise, once again suffer a significant delay, reaching the year 2031.Avatar 3will premiere on July 19, 2025,Avatar 4on August 19, 2025, andAvatar 5on July 27, 2025.

Meanwhile, the recently announcedStar Warsmovies directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy already have release dates. Lucasfilm has taken the dates of August 23, 2025, June 01, 2025, and June 19, 2025.

While waiting for new theatrical releases,Star Warsfans will be able to enjoy a lot of content on the small screen with theAhsokaseries,Skeleton Crew,The Acolyte, the second season ofAndorand much more.

Other projects that got a release date were the live-action remake ofMoana, which will hit theaters on June 16, 2025, and the newAlienmovie directed by Fede Alvarez that will debut on July 05, 2025.

For now, other live-action projects currently in development such as theLilo & Stitchremake orThe Aristocatshave no official release date. WhileSnow White, set to debut in March, 2024, seems to be safe from delays.
