Since the triumphant return ofCharlie Coxas Matt Murdock akaDaredevil, there has been some confusion over whether the character is the same iteration as the one introduced in the hugely popular Netflix series. Well, Cox himself has now confirmed that the Disney Daredevil is indeed the same as the Netflix one while speaking withEW.
“It should be and it is always the same character. The difference is just like with people, we morph and change and are very different based on what’s going on in our lives. The Matt Murdock from the Netflix show, that world and what was going on for Matt meant that most of the time we were living with a man who had a huge amount of pressure and strain and tonally the show was very dark and gritty and heavy. I don’t know what the new show will be like, but when I came over to do Spider-Man and She-Hulk, the tone is much more lighthearted and tongue in cheek and fun and witty and full of levity, so the hope was that Matt is able to fit into that world and participate in it without it being a different character, a different person.”

There we have it. We have been reunited with the same Daredevil. Though, this one, much like his comic book counterpart, will “morph and change” to suit the project and the universe that he is starring in.
Cox has so far appeared as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, on both the big screen inSpider-Man: No Way Home, and the small screen inShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law,with the latter demonstrating how much he will morph to suit his surroundings.A morph that has been met with a divisive reaction from Marvel fans.

Still, it certainly sounds like Daredevil is the same as he ever was despite leaping from Netflix to Disney, which should have fans confident that the upcomingDaredevil: Born Againwill take the character back to his darker, grittier roots.

Charlie Cox Has Promised That Daredevil Will Never Become Slapstick
While he is willing to bend and change Daredevil for theMCU, there is still a line that he will not cross, with Charlie Cox promising that the character will never resort to slapstick shenanigans. “I don’t think that would work,” Cox assured last month. “Not over the course of our entire season. Not with this character. I don’t think it’s necessarily truthful enough to the source material for it to really work.”
Not much has yet been confirmed about the direction ofDaredevil: Born Again(though it is now rumored that it will follow the comic book arcMayor Fisk), but Marvel Studios has revealed that it will run for a monumental 18 episodes. After appearing as Matt Murdock inSpider-Man: No Way Home, and as both Murdock and Daredevil inShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox will next appear in the Disney+ series,Echo, withDaredevil: Born Againdue to follow.
