As night falls, Martin sings over a montage of photos and footage of Van Dyke through the years, and the Hollywood star is eventually joined by squealing great-grandchildren. While dancing barefoot with his family members, the cheekily grinning Van Dyke even resurrects some of his famous comedic bits and dance moves fromThe Dyck Van Dyke Show, ducking his head down, swiveling his hips around, and donning a bowler hat.

Dick Van Dyke Becomes Oldest Ever Daytime Emmy Winner

Martin approached Van Dyke after having a family breakfast together, and Van Dyke found the song to be “beautiful.” Martin said that the project was, “the most fun thing I’ve ever done.” And Van Dyke added that Martin had him doing dance moves he didn’t think he could even do anymore.

Coldplay will release another version of the video on December 13 in honor of Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.

Van Dyke is Embracing the Future — Whatever That May Be

During the interview portion of the music video, Van Dyke answers the question, “What is love?” with humility. “They’ve certainly been attacking that question for centuries! I don’t know. It certainly is a feeling of caring as much about the welfare and life of the other person as much as you care for yourself.”

Building on that mentality, Van Dyke — who turns 99 on December 13 — embraces a peaceful outlook towards the future as he experiences his final years on Earth. He joked on Kimmel that his memorial service will be an “open invitation.”

“I’m acutely aware that I, you know, could go any day now,” Van Dyke says in the music video. “But, I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright.”

Van Dyke earned his fourth Emmy last year for his specialDick Van Dyke: 98 Years of Magic, making himthe oldest person to have won.

“I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living what I would’ve done anyway,” he said in the music video. “You think how lucky I am, I got to do what I do: play and act silly!”
