It’s been three years since we last saw Michael C. Hall as our beloved vigilante serial killer inDexter: New Blood, and while he made a brief appearance at the beginning ofOriginal Sin,Dexter: Resurrectionwill feature his full-time return to the character first made famous in the novels by Jeff Lindsay. This time around, Hall will be joined by a lot of fresh names, but we now know of another familiar face from the original series that will also be along for the ride:Jimmy Smits.
Per Deadline, Smits will reprise his role of Miguel Prado, despite Dexter killing him in the Season 3 episode “The Damage a Man Can Do.” At first a friend to Dexter who knew of his Dark Passenger, Prado’s own lust for revenge clouded his decision-making as things progressed, leading to the Assistant District Attorney finding himself wrapped in plastic on Dexter’s kill table. His death would later be blamed in The Trinity Killer, who was portrayed by John Lithgow.

Michael C. Hall’s 10 Most Killer Quotes as Dexter Morgan
In one of his most memorable roles, Michael C. Hall delivered some killer lines as Dexter Morgan.
Speaking of Lithgow, he’ll also be returning forResurrectionto portray Arthur Mitchell, albeit in phantom form. Fans of the series will know that it’s not unusual for Dexter to see shadows of the past, and often speak to loved ones who have passed away. This time it appears as if his past victims have now joined in on the haunt, with both Lithgow and Smits returning to torment an already tormented soul. It’s unclear at this point if their appearances will be one-shots, or if they’ll stick around for a few episodes.

Joining him will be David Zayas as Angel Batista, who starred in bothDexterandDexter: New Blood. WhileJennifer Carpenter won’t be returning as Deb, her absence will be filled with a ton of star power. Joining Hall and the familiar cast will be newcomers like Peter Dinklage as mysterious billionaire Leon Prater, andKill Bill’s Uma Thurman as his head of security. Also on board are Neil Patrick Harris as someone named Lowell, andLate Night with the Devil’s David Dastmalchian in an undisclosed role.Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet rounds out the list of guest stars that have been announced thus far, but more names could be added as we get closer to the premiere later this summer.
