You may not know it, butMarvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosauris going to be the next big thing in animation. The new Disney Channel series, based Marvel’s hit comic books, hasn’t even premiered yet, but it already has a small – but growing –dedicated fandomthat’s devilishly excited about the upcoming series. And it seems that Marvel and Disney Branded Television has confidence in the animated series too. Ahead ofMarvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaurfirst season premiere on August 12, 2025, the series has already received its Season 2 renewal. The news, along with a clip of the theme song written and produced by Raphael Saadiq, was announced on Saturday, October 8 at New York Comic Con.

Based on Marvel’s hit comic books,Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, created by writers Brandon Montclare and Amy Reeder, and artist Natacha Bustos, the animated series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur (Fred Tatasciore), whom she accidentally brings through time into present-day New York City. Equipped with Devil’s fierce loyalty and brawn, the loving support of her family and best friend Casey, Lunella sets out to make a difference and protect her Lower East Side neighborhood from danger.

In addition to White and Tatasciore,Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaurfirst season regulars include returning Marvel star Alfre Woodard as Lunella’s grandmother, Mimi; Libe Barer as Lunella’s best friend and manager, Casey; Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mom, Adria; Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s dad, James Jr.; Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather, Pops; series executive producer Laurence Fishburne in the recurring role of The Beyonder, a curious and mischievous trickster, and in undisclosed roles Omid Abtahi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Michael Cimino, Indya Moore, and Craig Robinson. As for guest cast, fans can expect to see anall-star roster of actors, including Alison Brie, who will be playing Aftershock, Gideon Adlon, Pamela Adlon, Anna Akana, Ian Alexander, May Calamawy, Andy Cohen, Wilson Cruz, Daveed Diggs, Asia Kate Dillon, Luis Guzmán, Maya Hawke, Jennifer Hudson, Dr. Mae Jemison, Josh Keaton, June Diane Raphael, Paul Scheer, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Cobie Smulders, Tajinae Turner, and Wesley Snipes.

Produced by Disney Television Animation, the series is executive produced by Fishburne and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions (black-ish) and Steve Loter (Kim Possible). For season two, Rodney Clouden (Futurama) and Pilar Flynn (Elena of Avalor) are co-executive producers; Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) is co-executive producer and story editor; Halima Lucas (East of La Brea) is co-producer and story editor; Ben Juwono (Big Hero 6 The Series) is co-producer and supervising director; Chris Whittier (Big Hero 6 The Series) and Jose Lopez (Transformers Prime) are art directors; Rafael Chaidez (Kung Fu Panda) is producer.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Theme Song Revealed

Earlier this year, at San Diego Comic Con 2022, it was revealed that three-time Grammy Award-winnerRaphael Saadiq was named executive music producerforMarvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, debuting on the Disney Channel on February 10 before it will move to Disney+. Saadiq rose to prominence as a member of the multi-platinum soul/R&B band Tony! Toni! Toné! and has previously collaborated with Marvel onLuke Cage, where he performed his songs “Good Man” and “Angel” at the club owned by Cottonmouth, Harlem’s Paradise. Throughout his extensive career, the musical genius has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, and 15 Grammy Awards.

TheMarvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaurtheme song, “Moon Girl Magic,” was written and produced by Saadiq and performed by series star Diamond White. However, the animated series has promoted itself as having a heavy music component as the actors and producers have discussed what fans can expect come early 2023, including a musical episode. According toAIPT, during a short Q&A session during the NYCC panel, it was revealed that Fishburne’s The Beyonder would sing a Broadway-style musical number at one point!

TheMarvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaursoundtrack, from Walt Disney Records, is set for release on February 10 and will feature songs from the first season. Watch the theme song below:
