“#FBF that time Cyclops and I went shopping at the mall and found our favorite singer’s album (pre 1989, of course)”

Dazzler, whose real name is Alison Blaire, first appeared inUncanny X-Men#130 way back in February 1980. She was created by Marvel to cash in on the fashion and music craze known as disco, and she was actually a cross-promotional, multi-media creation shared between Casablanca Records and Marvel Comics. Dazzler is a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. And she was created by committee, lead by writer/editor Tom DeFalco and illustrator John Romita, Jr. Though she was originally a Disco singer, that genre of music quickly fell out of favor with American consumers, so Alison Blaire shifted to rock and adult contemporary songs.

Dazzler has appeared in a number of theX-Menanimated series over the years, but she has never appeared in a live-action movie. WhenX-Men: Days of Future Pastwent into production, it was announced thatLady Gagawas going to play the character, but that turned out to be anApril Fools' day prank. Way back in 1980, when she first appeared in the comics, screenwriter Gary Goddard was hired to write aDazzlermovie that would have starredBo Derek. That project fell apart due to a waning interest in the disco culture. Instead, the pair moved onto the R-ratedTarzan, the Ape Man.
