Daredevil: Born Againis finally bringing back the belovedNetflix series in the MCU, with many of that series' originalcast returning. Stars Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), showrunner Dario Scardapane, and directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead sat down to discuss what fans can expect. Charlie Cox set the stage:
Some time has passed since the end of the series we did that ended in 2018… Matt [Murdock] has suffered a trauma that has meant that he’s had to rethink his identity in a way that is probably more profound than we’ve seen before. He ends up going down a path which I think is best described as a band-aid that will have to be ripped off. Slowly and painfully."

WhileDaredevil: Born Againshares a title with a Frank Miller arc in the comic book, the series doesn’t follow that arc necessarily, though it takes plenty of inspiration from it.
Charlie Cox Admits He Was “Not 100% Convinced” About Marvel’s Original ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Plan
There was a much different plan until a creative overhaul changed its trajectory.
D’Onofrio explained how the lead characters of Kingpin and Daredevil are forced to come together in ways they never had before. He said:

“The two of us…we’re broken….you may think about the metaphor of vampires trying to live in the daylight. It’s a struggle that they’re going through…Huge credit to Dario [Scardapane] and the producers who came up with this idea, whoever it was… bringing us together early on in this new season is something we haven’t done before. And putting them in a position where they have to trust one another”
What Role Does Muse Play?
With much attention going to thecharacter of Museappearing in the new season, producers and stars have been fairly tight-lipped. However, showrunner Dario Scardapane gave some small insights as to how things could play out.
“Inside the story there are stressors that come in, and I would say Muse is one of those stressors.”

It would appear that the impact of Muse, and the events of this season, have bigger MCU implications. He continued,“What happens with Muse creates a ripple effect that actually goes past this season into the future. Fair to say that it’s scary, dark, and creepy.”
Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum added that this season, and incarnation of the beloved character, will go new places. He said,“Part of Dario’s vision was to really push it as far as it could as it could possibly go. And we never found the breaking point. We put it all out there on the screen the biggest dramatic punch we could achieve.”

Fans will not have to wait much longer withDaredevil: Born Againscheduled to premiere on Disney+ on July 15, 2025.
