Daniel Craighas found himself a new franchise following his exit from the world ofJames Bondin the most dramatic – and final – fashion, sliding into the more casual suits of Benoit Blancin Rian Johnson’sKnives Outmovies. In a new interview, Craig has given a hint at just how long he might want to stick around solving twisting and turning crimes alongside a big ensemble cast.

The actor is currently gaining widespread acclaim for his role in the drama movieQueer, and while that film could see him pick up several awards in the coming months, there are many fans out there awaiting the arrival of another upcoming movie:Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The second sequel to 2019’s incredible and completely unexpected runaway hit, the latest film reunites Craig with Johnson, along with another huge star-studded cast of suspects and/or potential victims, including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunas, Thomas Haden Church, and Daryl McCormack.

In an interview withScreenRant, Craig was asked what hisKnives Outfuture looks like beyond the 2025 release, and it is clear that he plans on playing Blanc as many times as Johnson wants him to – something that is very good news for fans of the well-reviewed franchise. He said:

“If Johnson keeps writing them like that, then yes, I will play it. [Compared to Bond] it’s much easier on the limbs.”

Daniel Craig Has Not Been Happy with Netflix’s Handling of ‘Knives Out’

Streaming platforms are always looking for that special movie or TV show that can really draw in viewers time and time again. Johnson’sKnives Outfranchise became one of these very quickly, with the original movie, and its sequel,Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, becoming huge streaming hits, but not having the chance to shine in cinemas.

Recently, reports surfaced referencing Craig’s supposed foulmouthed outburst at Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos in 2022 whenGlass Onionwas not put on general theatrical release. According to the report, while appearing at the TIFF 2022, Craig was said to have told Sarandos that his platform’s release model “is f*cked.”

The outburst came afterGlass Onionreceived a huge standing ovation, and Craig used that to try and leverage a longer theatrical run for the movie. The response from Sarandos was to reply that was “not our model” which prompted some version of the actor’s NSFW quip.

Daniel Craig’s ‘James Bond’ Fame Was a “F*cking Disaster”

“I think anybody who becomes famous who’s got half a heart, I think you kind of mourn your previous life.”

In the main, Craig is not alone in his thoughts. There are many actors in Hollywood becoming frustrated with “straight-to-streaming” releases after their movies get either a very short release in selected cinemas or no theatrical release at all.Prime Video’sRoad Houseremake starring Jake Gyllenhaal hit the headlineswhen both the film’s star and director, Doug Liman, aired their annoyance and frustration over that movie pivoting from a theatrical release to becoming a Prime Video exclusive. However, in the exact reverse of this, Warner Bros. Discover have recently flipped titles likeEvil Dead Risefrom being a Max streaming exclusive to a successful cinema movie, and Disney turned theirMoanasequel TV show into a record-breaking movie.

However, for Craig’s next outing as Benoit Blanc, it looks like nothing has changed, and the film will head to Netflix sometime in 2025 after a very short run in cinemas. PerhapsKnives Out 4will be a bit luckier if Johnson gets the green light to produce more movies based on the detective.
