Crazy Ex-Girlfriendis coming to an end, according to the show’s co-creator and star Rachel Bloom. The CW recently renewed the romantic comedy/musical series, along with a slew of additional scripted programming, but it looks like this one may be nearing the end of its run. If Bloom is to be believed, and since she’s the driving creative force behind the series there’s reason to think she knows what she’s talking about here,Crazy Ex-Girlfriendseason 4 will conclude the show.

The CW recently made the announcement thatCrazy Ex-Girlfriendseason 4 is happening and will be included in the network’s 2018-2019 lineup. Rachel Bloom found out like the rest of us, by looking around online, but she was on a flight to Chicago when the news broke. Once she had wifi, she posted a photo to Twitter to express herexcitement about the series renewal. However, her caption reveals that once the season finishes up next year, that’s going to be the end of it. Here’s what she had to say.

“Just turned on my wifi on our flight to Chicago and found out that #CrazyExGirlfriend has been renewed for a final season.”

So far, the network has yet to officially comment on whether or notCrazy Ex-Girlfriendseason 4 will indeed be its final. But this actually doesn’t come as a big surprise. Rachel Bloom has been clear fromvery early on in the show’s runthat this isn’t the kind of thing that was going to run forever. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the conclusion of the show’s first season, Bloom indicated that around four seasons would be “ideal.” Here’s what she had to say about it at the time.

“We’re a show about avery specific journeyin a person’s life. And it’s not really a sitcom meant to spit out copies of itself. Very early on, we called it a 50-hour movie. I think we’re beyond that now. There’s always going to be plot movement, so there’s only so far I think you’re able to go with that. It could be five, but I think around four would be ideal for us creatively.”

To date,Crazy Ex-Girlfriendhas aired a total of 44 episodes, with its third season concluding in February. The series hasn’t done particularly well in the ratings department, when compared tosome of The CW’s other serieslikeRiverdale, which exploded in its second season thanks to Netflix showcasing the first season, and the Arrowverse shows likeThe FlashandSupergirl. However, it was an award season favorite, scoring some Emmy love for the show’s original music and choreography, with Rachel Bloom winning a Golden Globe for her acting work.

The network will be making some more announcements regarding their programming schedule for next season in May, which is when we could possibly expect to get a formal announcement regarding the conclusion ofCrazy Ex-Girlfriend. You can check outRachel Bloom’s Twitterpost for yourself below.
