While we won’t know who will be playing in the big game until next month, a new report fromDeadlinereveals the popular rock groupColdplaywill be performing during theSuper Bowlhalftime show. TheSuper Bowlnews is expected to be officially announced during tonight’s Thursday Night Football match up between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions on the NFL Network.

The site reports thatColdplaywon’t be the onlymusical actperforming during the 20-minute halftime show, with CBS reportedly planning to showcase multiple acts that will span different musical eras, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of this sporting event. It isn’t known if any of the other musical acts will be announced during Thursday Night Football tonight, so stay tuned for more details.Super Bowl 50will be broadcast live on CBS Sunday, February 7, from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

Earlier this year,Super Bowl XLIXbecame themost-watched TV programin U.S. history, with over 114.4 million viewers tuning in to watch the New England Patriots come from behind to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. Ironically, the halftime show drew in even bigger numbers, with 118.5 million viewers watching musiciansKaty Perry, Missy Elliott andLenny Kravitzperform. Those number also broke the record for most-watched halftime show, besting 2014’s performance lead byBruno Marsand the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which drew in 115.3 million viewers.

The news comes just one day beforeColdplayreleases their seventh album,A Head Full of Dreams. 2016 also marks the 20th anniversary of the band’s formation, so it’s possible that fans will hear some of the group’s biggest hits during the halftime celebration, along with their new single “Adventure of a Lifetime.” The band has sold more than 80 million records since first forming in London in the fall of 1996.

CBS announced last month that it will giveLate Show with Stephen Colbertthe coveted post-Super Bowlslot, the first time a late-night talk show has ever aired directly after the big game. A special episode ofThe Late Late Show with James Cordenwill directly followLate Show with Stephen Colbert.
