Marvel Phase Twocloses out with a bang this summer as the highly-anticipatedAvengers: Age of UltronandAnt-Manhit theaters worldwide.Phase Threestarts next year whenCaptain America: Civil Warhits theaters in summer 2016. Many have assumed that production will begin fairly soon, but today we have a new report fromColliderthat reveals shooting is actually slated to begin in less than two weeks, on April 1. It isn’t known if the April 1 date is for first or second unit scenes, and it’s also possible that production could even begin sooner than that date. The site reveals casting notices have gone out, seeking actors from several different ethnicities to be extras in the superhero sequel. In addition, the casting notices have also given us the first official synopsis, which reads as follows.
“Following the events ofAge of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst theAvengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.”
Of course, the synopsis doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. At theMarvelpress event where theCaptain America: Civil Wartitle was announced, bothChris EvansandRobert Downey Jr.appeared in person, pretending to put up their dukes in a fake showdown on stage. Still, it confirms that this sequel will follow at least the main story fromMark Millar’s Civil War comic books. We’ll have to wait and see what deviations there may be from the source material.
