Cameron Diazretired from acting to concentrate on doing something she fell in love with more than being in front of the camera – being a mom. However, the actress was recently coaxed back to the industry by Jamie Foxx, who encouraged her to take a role in Netflix’sBack in Action. However, a new report has suggested that Diaz is retiring again after completing her commitment to the movie after Foxx is alleged to have had “an absolute meltdown” on set that resulted in the firing of three people from the production.
Diaz previouslyended her acting careerafter appearing in 2014 movieAnnie, and she has stayed out of the spotlight since with no movie or TV appearances until joiningBack in Action. Now it seems her acting return has been short-lived for a handful of reasons. As well as citing Foxx’s on-set meltdown, theDaily Mailreported a source close to the actress as saying that the “back-to-back 10-hour work days have been lot on her and she hated being away from Raddix [her child]. Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.” Working on the U.K. based production has meant that Diaz has been away from her family, and after almost a decade being there all of the time, it is not hard to see why it is taking a toll.

Cameron Diaz Was Ready To Return To Acting When Taking Her New Role
News of Cameron Diaz’s return to acting was first announced back in September 2022, when the actress spoke about how she felt like she has just fallen back into it despite having an eight year hiatus from he industry. Although she had not appeared on screen since 2014, it was only in 2018 that Diaz said she never intended to return to acting again. However, after signing up to star alongside Jamie Foxx inBack in Action, she told Jimmy Fallon:
“I know. Literally. I was like, ‘Hey, guys, so what is the title of this?’ And they’re like, ‘Back in Action.’ I was like, ‘Oh!’ I’m really feeling very connected to this character already. I’m both (nervous and excited). You know, it’s a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean? Sort like, I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it. But, it kind of feels a bit different."
While Diaz and Foxx have previously starred together, in Oliver Stone’sAny Given Sundayand Diaz’s last movie,Annie. While it seems this previous working relationship is whathelped Foxx persuade the actress to come out of retirement, it seems that it is not going to lead to an ongoing stay for the actress. Although the second retirement of Cameron Diaz could see the movie gain a healthy audience, it will also be a bittersweet second goodbye for her long-term fans.
