Brie Larson is all set to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ seriesLessons in Chemistry. In addition, theCaptain Marvelactress will serve as an executive producer on the series. The show has been given a straight-to-series order at Apple TV+. Larson is currently training in her home gym in preparation for the long awaitedCaptain Marvel 2, which will be directed by Nia DaCosta.
Lessons in Chemistryis set in the 1960s and based on the upcoming debut novel by Bonnie Garmus. The series follows Elizabeth Zott, whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TVcooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives - and the men who are suddenly listening - a lot more than recipes.
The upcomingApple TV+series will be written and executive-produced by Susannah Grant (A Gifted Man), with Jason Bateman (Ozark) and Michael Costigan (The Outsider) serving as additional executive producers. Grant previously co-created and executive producedUnbelievablefor Netflix, which led to an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Limited Series. She also wrote the screenplays forEver AfterandErin Brockovich, with the latter earning her an Academy Award nomination. In addition, Grant also wrote Disney’s 1995 animated moviePocahontasand28 Days. Bonnie Garmus’Lessons in Chemistrynovel will be released in spring 2022, so it’s going to be a little while before production on the Apple TV+ series begins.
It’s unclear whenLessons in Chemistrywill beginstreaming, but it will be after the novel’s release in 2022. In the meantime, Brie Larson will head back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe forCaptain Marvel 2, which is slated for a 2022 release date. However, it would not be surprising to see the release get pushed back in the coming weeks, due to the public health crisis. Disney just announced a bunch of release date delays for their Q1 projects, which will likely trickle down to the MCU movies set up for a 2021 release date.
