Speaking withThe Digital Fix, Soto revealed that Sudeikis has long been his number one choice for the role of Ted Kord, though what matters most to him is finding the best actor for the role.

“My dream cast for Ted Kord has always been Jason Sudeikis. But at the end of the day, it’s about who’s best for the character, who loves what we’re trying to do. And who’s willing to see Jaime Reyes’ story continue.”

With his hit sitcomTed Lassonow seemingly coming to an end, Jason Sudeikis is free to join the ever-growing franchise of the DCU should he so choose. And thus making Soto’s dreams come true and becoming another Ted.

Created by comic book legend Steve Ditko, Theodore Stephen “Ted” Kord first appeared way back in 1966 and was the second person to take on theBlue Beetlemantle. A genius-level inventor (possibly even more intelligent than Batman) and a gifted athlete, Ted fought crime without superpowers, and would no doubt make a great addition to the DCU.

Be warned,SPOILERSlie ahead, as one of the major plot points inBlue Beetleregards the whereabouts of Ted Kord, who once fought crime as the Blue Beetle despite not being able to use the technological wonders of the Scarab. While we never see Ted Kord in the movie, the final moments ofBlue Beetlehint that he will make an appearance in the future, asa post-credits scene teases his arrivalin a possible sequel.

So, would you like to see Jason Sudeikis suit up as Blue Beetle?

Will We See a Blue Beetle Sequel?

The firstBlue Beetleintroduces audiences to recent college grad Jaime Reyes, who returns home full of aspirations for his future only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.

A sequel toBlue Beetleis sadly looking less and less likely, as the moviehas struggled at the box office. Soto himself has said thatBlue Beetle 2is reliant on whether the first outing makes money, but has always viewed the project as the first chapter in a franchise.

“But for us, we’ve always seen it that way… We love the story so much,”he said recently. “We believe in the product so much. We believe in an actor so much. We couldn’t help but think about where his journey was going to go while we were creating this film… So, is it wish fulfillment? Are we calling it out to the universe? Sure.”

Blue Beetleis out now in theaters.
