Better Call Saulis getting an animated spinoff series. AMC Networks has revealed the company’s new slate of original digital series heading into development, and the list includes a new season of the Emmy-winning digital seriesBetter Call Saul Employee Trainingfeaturing all-new characters from the show. Also on the list isSlippin' Jimmy, an animated series derived from the world ofBetter Call Saulset in the lovable conman’s younger years.

Set many years before the events ofBetter Call Saul,Slippin' Jimmyfollows the adventures of youngJimmy and Chuck McGilland friends back home in Cicero, Illinois. It is created in the “retro style ofFat Albert” and “each episode nods to everything from spaghetti Westerns to Buster Keaton toAfter Hours.” It’s unclear if Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean will be lending their voices to the roles, but let’s hope that’s the case.

TheSlippin' Jimmytitle is a reference to the nickname Jimmy had been given at the time for staging “slip and fall” accidents to make quick money. OnBetter Call Saul, Chuck had referred to the nickname and Jimmy’s reputation as a reason why he shouldn’t be allowed to be a lawyer. In season 3, Jimmy also revisited the maneuver by faking a fall in a music store to resolve a financial dispute he was having with the owners.

AMC has also confirmed new episodes of the digital web seriesBetter Call Saul Employee Trainingare on the way. Each season has included fan favorites from the series reprising their roles for the live-action shorts, which includesLos Pollos Hermanos Employee TrainingwithGus Fring(Giancarlo Esposito);Madrigal Electromotive Security Trainingwith Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks); andEthics Trainingwith Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). The first season won the web series an Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.

Rhea Seehornwill also executive produce and co-directCooper’s Bar, another original digital series announced by AMC. The show is about the dream of one man (character actor Louis Mustillo) to create the perfect tiki bar experience in the backyard of his L.A. bungalow. Meanwhile, another digital series calledDead in the Waterwill serve as aFear the Walking Deadspinoff, following a submarine crew fighting for survival.

Filming is currently underway for the final season ofBetter Call Saul. ABreaking Badprequel series, the show details how attorney Jimmy McGill becomes thecriminallawyer we meet in the original series. Created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the series starsBob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Mando, Patrick Fabian, and Michael McKean. Introduced in later seasons, Tony Dalton has become a fan favorite with fans as well for his performance as the ruthless villain Lalo Salamanca.

Better Call Saulis expected to premiere its sixth and final season in early 2022. It’s likely that the new season ofBetter Call Saul Employee Trainingwill be released digitally alongside new episodes of the final season.
