WhenBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehits the big screen in just a few weeks, it will not only mark the first time that Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) are seen on the big screen together, but it will also mark the debut of the newWonder Woman, played byGal Gadot. While we have seen footage of her in the previously-released trailers, there is still much we don’t know about her role in this story.Gal Gadotrecently spoke withGlamour, where she revealed that her character does not have a love story in this upcoming adventure.
“I feel like I’ve been given such a huge opportunity to show the strong, beautiful side of women. Finally. For BvS it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story. She’s not there to serve someone else. She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence. She’s loving.”
Last week, we reported thatWonder Woman’s job on Earth is as an antiquities dealer, which could explain why she’s seen in in civilian clothes in scenes from the trailers, where she’s spotted with Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). There have also been reports from the select few that have seenBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, who claim thatWonder Womanis the “real star” of the movie, revealing that her role is much bigger than previously imagined.
Gal Gadotis currently shooting her stand alone Wonder Woman movie, which is set for release on August 19, 2025. We got our firstsneak peekat this stand alone adventure last month, during The CW’s half-hour special on this massive superhero universe. Last year a rumor surfaced that Wonder Woman will be set in three different time periods and settings. One of these settings is Diana’s homeland of Themyscira, and it is rumored that the Italy portion of the shoot will be used for the Themyscira scenes.
It was also recently confirmed that another setting isWorld War I, with the last setting being present day, which will connect the movie to her appearance in the upcomingJustice League Part 1. As forWonder Woman’s love story, it seems that may be saved for theWonder Womanmovie, withChris Pineconfirmed to play her love interest Steve Trevor.
