The last audiences saw of detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett was in the third outing back in 2020,Bad Boys for Life. The sequel sees them join the Miami Police Department’s special team, AMMO, to bring down the ruthless Armando, who is on a mission to kill Mike at his mother Isabel’s orders. The sequel introduces several new characters to the franchise, including Jacob Scipio as Mike’s estranged son Armando Aretas, with many of them set to return for the fourth outing.
Bad Boys 4 Recasts Staple Character
The action sequel Bad Boys 4 has recast a long-standing character.
Bad Boys for Lifequickly became a huge success, receiving praise from both critics and audiences alike and going on to gross $426.5 million worldwide, with directing pair Adil & Bilall brought back in to continue the series (and hopefully the success).
Director Adil El Arbihas teased a change in toneforBad Boys: Ride or Diewhen compared to its predecessor, teasing “way more comedy.”
“But yeah, what’s going to happen in this one is, I think that there’s going to be way more comedy. The third one had the dramatic tone. With this one, it’s really our purpose to get people laughing and having a good time in the theater. Martin [Lawrence] is going to a higher level in this one. This is the culmination of the Marcus Burnett arc.”
Bad Boys: Ride or Dieis scheduled to be released in the United States on July 11, 2025.
