Considering the overall response toAnt-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania, Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be off to a rocky start. Everybody praised Jonathan Majors as Kang The Conqueror (as they should because he held a fantastic presence throughout that entire film). Still, complaints ran rampant about the mediocre CGI and the overdone humor. While there are still a handful of other MCU movies slated for the current phase, likeGuardians of the Galaxy Volume 3andThunderboltswhich are sure to impress, the two biggest future releases that will keep comic book moviegoers clamoring for reports until they premiere in theaters areAvengers: The Kang DynastyandAvengers: Secret Wars.
While the two movies have been spread farther apart in release date than initially announced, the delay has not kept comic book fans from continuously speculating what these two blockbuster MCU movies entail. Well, one of the many rumors going about has now been squashed dead.

During a podcast session with Comicbook.com’s Brandon Davis,Kang Dynastywriter Jeff Loveness (Rick and MortyandMiracle Workers) brought an end to two different teams showing up in the very much anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film by explaining that Fantastic Four is going to be its own thing and X-Men is apparently being saved for a while. Knowing how to end things on a tease, Loveness leaves the exciting topic by stating that even though these two groups are not present in theAvengersmovie, the titular team is surely in trouble with Kang The Conqueror. Considering that this antagonist is formally ushering in the full impact of the Multiverse, the speculation surrounding the surprises has even continued after the significant statement from the esteemedKang Dynastywriter. Without hesitating, let’s dive right into the collective MCU hive mind and look at some other teams who are fully capable of showing up to help the Avengers take down the Kang Dynasty.

A Horrifying Villain Calls for an Even More Shocking Team
Originally brought together in Marvel Comics by different variants of Ghost Rider to stop the literal mother of all demons named Lilith from taking over the earth, the Midnight Sons are a team of various heroes with a taste for the fiery side of damnation. Leaning into darker character choices, many of the comic book roster members have already been introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Moon Knight in his self-titled Disney Plus series as well as Werewolf By Night, Man-Thing and Elsa Bloodstone in a black and white featurette exclusively released on the same streaming platform some months later.
Two more members include Blade, whosesolo filmis currently in development, and Wolverine, who will be in the upcomingDeadpool 3. Let’s not forget that an Egyptian variant of Kang called Rama-Tut was referenced early in the third episode ofMoon Knightand then once again teased at the end ofAnt-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania. As you may see, the pieces are coming together, and audiences would be excited to see the Midnight Sons make their presence felt on the big screen.

The Thunderbolts Have a Connection to the Quantum Realm
Accomplishing dangerous missions assigned to them by the United States government, the likes of U.S. Agent, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Taskmaster, and Ghost will star in theThunderbolts, a feature film that will release on June 20, 2025. Led by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the director of the CIA, this informal team is already shaking up the MCU community with various rumors about the movie’s plot exploding around the internet.

From obtaining Adamantiun out of a Celestial’s body to being involved in a Civil War type of story that revolves around Fontaine lying to Belova about Black Widow’s demise, this Phase Five release is already drawing massive amounts of attention. What makes this movie even more interesting is Ghost’s connection to Kang The Conqueror’s current turf, the Quantum Realm. Following the post-credit scene ofAnt-Man and the Wasp, Ghost never receives the quantum energy needed for her condition. Until the events ofEndgame, Scott was never pulled back from the other dimension.Avengers: Kang Dynastycould very well include an impromptu meeting between the title group and the Thunderbolts, who are looking to cure Ghost. In exchange for helping to fend off the Conqueror, the new-age Avengers might finally be able to cure the Thunderbolt member’s debilitating disease.
A Forgotten Series Holds the Key to Kang’s Demise?
Kang’s formal introduction could also bring along one of Marvel’s worst attempts at recent television. Premiering on August 19, 2025, and lasting only eight episodes, theInhumansfeatures a super-powered royal family that goes on the run after being sabotaged in their mystical homeland. Even though Blackbolt and his kin’s struggles weren’t received well, a variant of the character made a surprise appearance in 2022’sDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Not only did this event remind viewers that even the most obscure of MCU characters could very well show up wherever and whenever there is also a strong history between the Inhumans and Kang The Conqueror in the comics. A storyline in 2015’s Uncanny Inhumans sees Kang The Conqueror kidnapping and forcing Black Bolt’s son, Ahura, to decimate any signs of his family from the absolute timeline. Suffice it to say; Black Bolt had to end up killing his son, who had turned into just another version of He Who Remains and to exterminate the Kang Dynasty, a more perfected version of the Inhumans could be what the Avengers need to save the day once more.
Even though numerous other Marvel teams can very well be featured next to the Avengers in their latest on-screen iteration, fans won’t know for sure what takes place in Kang Dynasty until it hits theaters on June 07, 2025.
