According toComicBook.com,Knock at the Cabindebuted with a total of $5.4 million on its first day and will reach $14.7 this weekend, with Paramount Pictures' sports comedy80 for Bradytaking the second place with $13 million, leaving behind the equally impressive $10.2 ofThe Way of Waterfor the third place, which managed to stay at number one for a total of 7 consecutive weeks, something that only the firstAvatarhad achieved. The top 5 also includes Universal Pictures' latest animated success,Puss in Boots: The Last WishandThe ChosenSeason 3, in the 4th and 5th place, respectively.
Despite its good numbers at the box office,Knock at the Cabinis drawing mixed reviews. However, some claim it to be one of Shyamalan’s best works, alongsideServant. While others have severely punished it for the poor script and character development, even calling it predictable, something the director always tries to escape.
Cameron, for his part, will continue to rule the box office next week, not only withThe Way of Waterbut also withTitanic. The 1997 classic will return to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary with an improved version. Based on Paul Tremblay’s novelThe Cabin at the End of the World, the film follows a family vacationing in a remote cabin far from civilization. The girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable decision to prevent the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the protagonists must decide what they believe in before all is lost.
