This summer, one of the most popular mobile games of all time is coming to the big screen withThe Angry Birds Movie. Four months after thefirst trailerdebuted in January,Sony Pictureshas released the second trailer with brand new footage, to get fans ready for the May 20 release. This footage sheds some new light on Red’s (Jason Sudeikis) journey through life, which hasn’t always been easy.
The Angry Birds Movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds. Or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.
In this hilarious 3D adventure, we’ll finally find out why the birds are soangry. The Roviovideo gamehas been downloaded a massive 3 billion times since it launched in 2009, where users shoot a variety of different birds from a huge slingshot, into various structures that house green pigs, known as the Oinks, who have stolen these birds' eggs. Unfortunately, the game is short on back story, and all we know from playing the game is that these birds want their eggs back, and will crash into anything to make that happen. Thisadaptationwill provide a long-awaited origin story, revealing how this rivalry between the birds and the pigs really started.
Back in October, Sony announced the fullvoice castfor Angry Birds, featuringJason Sudeikisas Red,Josh Gadas Chuck, andDanny McBrideportrays the volatile Bomb,Bill Haderas the pig leader Leonard,Maya Rudolphas Matilda, andPeter Dinklageas the legendary Mighty Eagle.
