The newStar Warsseries,Andor, has been pushed from its previous premiere date by three weeks.
Andorwas supposed to premiere on August 31. However, now, the show instead will premiere three weeks from the previous date, on September 21. To make up for the delay, Disney+ will release the show’s first three episodes as a bundle on the same day. It would be the first time for aStar Warsseries to release as a three-episode premiere.

Andorfeatures Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andorfrom the filmRogue One: A Star Wars Story. Cassian Andor is a thief turned member of the rebel alliance whose homeworld was destroyed by the Empire. He plays a crucial role in getting the plans for the Empire’s Death Star to Princess Leia Organa, which eventually leads to the events ofStar Wars: A New Hope.
InRogue One, Cassian Andor was shown to be a troubled pilot, obsessed with his mission and tired of losing every chance of bringing down the Empire. The series will probably help shape the fragility of Andor’s emotional arc, as witnessed in the spin-off movie. The show was announced earlier as a buddy space venture series featuring Luna’s Andor andhis droid fromRogue One, Alan Tudyk’s K2SO. However, changes in the story that were brought in later removed Tudyk’s character from the series. It essentially changedAndorinto a spy thriller show, focusing primarily on Diego Luna’s character. Alan Tudyk may appear in the second season of the show.
Andor’sofficial trailerhas revealed several plot points that could be explored in this twelve-episode season. The series’ first season will lay out events spread across one year. The series will establish Andor and the quake that the Rebel Alliance plans to instigate against the Empire, forming the Star Wars original trilogy.Andorhas also beenrenewed for a second, conclusive season, which shall end at a point directly influencingRogue One.
Why CouldAndorHave Been Postponed?
The reason for postponingAndorcould be because of the stiff competition that August is bringing to the television front. The same month will also mark the streaming premiere of HBO Max’sHouse of the Dragon. Amazon Prime Video’sThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerwill also debut on September 2. Both these shows are already hyped up, andAndormay fall prey to low viewership ratings. Moreover, the show will also be in stiff competition with Disney+’s ownShe-Hulk, further affecting the series’ popularity.
Similarly, Marvel Studios’Ms. Marvelwas affected by shows likeObi-Wan KenobiandThe Boysdespite becoming critically acclaimed. Disney+ probably wants to avoid clashes with these shows and ensure thatAndorgets some undivided attention, free from unwanted competition.
AndorstarsDiego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, and Forest Whitaker. Created by Tony Gilroy,Andorwill end on August 07, 2025. After the three-episode premiere, the next nine episodes will be made available to stream weekly.
