Amy Poehleris making the jump to director with her latest projectWine Country. The comedy movie, which is being produced by Netflix, will be Poehler’s feature directorial debut. The formerSaturday Night Livecast member is also going to star in and produce the comedy for the streaming service. As an added bonus, the project is also going to reunite Poehler with Tina Fey, in addition to several otherSNLalum.

Wine Countrywill also star Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph and Emily Spivey, who wrote the script for the comedy as well. The movie is said to center on a group of friends who take a trip to wine country in Napa Valley in order to celebrate a 50th birthday. Beyond that, much of what we’re going to see in Amy Poehler’s feature directorial debut remains a mystery. Netflix confirmed the news by posting a musical video of the cast who were gathered together in celebration.

“It’s happening, Amy Poehler’s directorial debut, Wine Country, is coming soon to Netflix! Starring Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph, Emily Spivey and featuring Tina Fey. Get excited. Get real excited.”

Emily Spivey worked with Amy Poehler onParks and Recreation, so the two have chemistry together. Poehler also has some directing experience under her belt. She directed several episodes ofParks and Rec, in addition to episodes of the Comedy Central seriesBroad City. But making the jump to an ensemble feature is definitely going to be a test for Poehler, but there’s little doubt she’ll be able to successfully make the leap from actor/producer/writer to movie director.

Despite the fact that news of this movie is just coming to light, it’s happening rather fast.Wine Countryis reportedly set to begin filming toward the end of this month in Los Angeles. Amy Poehler will produce the movie through her company, Paper Kite Productions.
