Season 5of FX’sAmerican Horror Story, dubbed American Horror Story: Hotel, is the first season that won’t feature Emmy-winning actressJessica Lange, who starred in the first four seasons. Instead, this season will feature none other than hit recording artistLady Gagain her first TV series as Elizabeth. You can get a glimpse of this enigmatic character in a new trailer for the upcoming season. The trailer showcases a number of mysterious areas of the title hotel, set to the 1990s heavy metal hit “Du Hast” by the German bandRammstein.

Last week, FX debuted anothertrailerthat featuredLady Gaga’s Elizabeth sporting some incredibly long hair, but we don’t see any super-long locks in this trailer. There is very little we know about her character, or any of the other characters, for that matter, but we’ll find out about these hotel inhabitants when American Horror Story: Hotel debuts next month on FX. Lady Gaga was the first cast member announced back in February, with series creatorRyan Murphyassembling a cast of new and familiar faces around her.

The 13-episode fifth installment of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning franchise,American Horror Story: Hotel, premieres on FX on October 7th. Tim Minear, Bradley Buecker, Jennifer Salt,James Wongand Alexis Martin Woodall also serve as Executive Producers. TheAmerican Horror Storyfranchise is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. The most recent installment, American Horror Story: Freak Show, has been nominated for a franchise-record 19 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited Series. Over its first four installments, theAmerican Horror Storyfranchise has received a total of 70 Emmy Award nominations, with the first three installments earning a total of eight Emmy awards.

Back in October, series creatorRyan Murphyrevealed that, although each season takes place in a completely different place and time, they are all connected, somehow. The first season was set in present-day Los Angeles, with the second set at a Massachusetts Asylum in 1964. The third season takes place in present-day New Orleans at a Coven full of witches, and last season was set at a Jupiter, Florida Freak Show. American Horror Story: Hotel brings the series back to Los Angeles, set at the Cortez Hotel in downtown L.A.

Series creatorRyan Murphyconfirmed during the TCA Summer Tour that the story is inspired by the mysterious death ofElisa Lamat the Cecil Hotel in downtown L.A. The video ofElisa Lamfrom an elevator surveillance camera showed the woman seemingly interacting with an unseen entity. She was later found dead in the water tank on the roof of the hotel in February 2013.
