Day 11 of the ongoing Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial revealed startling facts about theAquamanstar’s promised donation to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). In 2016,Amber Heardaccused thePirates of the Caribbeanstar of abusing her throughout their relationship.Depp denies the allegations. The pair eventually divorced, and Heard pledged to donate her entire $7 million divorce settlement to two charities: the ACLU and the CHLA.

Yesterday, in a pre-recorded deposition, Terence Dougherty, the ACLU’s general counsel, testified that Amber Heard is yet to fulfill her pledge. So far, she has only paid $1.3 million to the ACLU, which is not even half of the $3.5 million she initially proposed. And even in that, she was aided by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, and Elon Musk.

Dougherty revealed that the ACLU had received four donations from Heard up to this point: $350,000 directly from her in 2016, a $100,000 check from Depp, $500,000 from a fund linked to Elon Musk, whom Amber briefly dated after his divorce, and finally a final $350,000 payment from another fund.

This revelation is likely to be asignificant blow to Heard’s credibility, especially after the UK ruling cited her charitable donations as proof that she didn’t marry Johnny Depp for financial gains. CHLA hasn’t publicly addressed the matter yet but will likely be dragged into the trial soon.

As for why Heard didn’t follow through on her promise, it’s apparently due to financial constraints. “We reached out to Ms. Heard starting in 2019 for the next installment of her giving and we learned that she was having financial difficulties,” Dougherty said. Furthermore, ACLU received an email from Elon Musk on Heard’s behalf stating that she plans to donate the entire amount over 10 years. However, that detail is a recent development, while Heard has benefitted for years from the goodwill the donations brought her.

PerInsider, Heard never even signed the pledge from ACLU staffers prepared for her and asked them not to issue a press release about her contract. Another significant detail that came out of yesterday’s testimonies is that ACLU assisted and even encouraged Heard to write her op-ed, as they proposed she be an ambassador for the group.

“Ms. Heard spoke with such clarity and expertise on issues of gender-based violence, that [ACLU representatives] decided she would be an appropriate person to ask to become an ACLU ambassador.”

Johnny Depp is now suing Heard for $50 million, with the actress counter-suing for $100 million.

They must not ignore the suffering of Heard’s victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser. Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”
