Deadlineannounced Amazon Prime had made a series commitment to the adaptation in 2019, confirming the series order the following year. Quite a bit has happened in the time it’s taken to get the series out, including Stephany Folsom stepping down as one of the showrunners and executive producers last year during filming. While her name will remain on the series, she hasn’t been involved with the project directly since last July.

Despite the process,Paper Girlsis finally making its way to screens. Buckle up, just in case a time war starts waging near you, as we venture into the purple sky and tell you everything you need to know about the new series.
Paper Girls: The Plot
The synopsis provided by Amazon at this time gives the setting and the situation but doesn’t really give potential viewers much to go on. If anything, it asks more questions than answers.
It’s the day after Halloween in 1988 when four young friends accidentally stumble into an intense time war and find themselves inexplicably transported to the year 2019. When they come face-to-face with their adult selves, each girl discovers her own strengths as together they try to find a way back to the past while saving the world of the future.

Who or what is in the time war? Is this some type of multiverse-level situation? Why is there a time war? Allthe teaser trailer showsis something brewing in a purple-pink sky, but it isn’t clear what is happening. There are some darker clouds present, and all the clouds seem to be moving rapidly, but what’s causing them to move like that remains a mystery to the viewers and the four girls. The initial press release from Amazon says that what they’re seeing is “a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers” but doesn’t give any additional information on whom those time-travelers might be.

What the synopsis doesn’t say is that these girls are just on their morning paper route, delivering the news to their neighbors when everything goes south. Is it something about the news story they’re sharing that causes the time war? Will the news they’re delivering change as they go from the future back to their present? Only the time they travel to may tell.
