Over the weekend,Avengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIdirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russoattended Wizard World New Orleans, whereJoe Russorevealed that they have a board that features67 charactersin this two-part adventure. While most fans assumed the two-part movie would be simply massive, that character count seemed too high for some. The brothers recently spoke withCollider, where they clarified there aren’t exactly 67 characters in both movies, but there certainly are quite a lot.
“We were being figurative when we said [67 characters] and people took it as literal but there’s a lot of characters.Infinity Waris meant to be the culmination of the entireMarvel Cinematic Universeup to that point. It’s very ambitious in its scope, it wants to take everything that you’ve seen before and coalesce into some kinda of climactic ending. It’s complicated, ambitious storytelling. We’re not talking about lead characters, just people that make an appearance.”
Back in April, a report surfaced that the brothers plan to shoot both moviesback-to-backover a nine-month stretch, starting in late 2016. This will allow plenty of time for post-production, sinceAvengers: Infinity War Part Iarrives in May 2018, withAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIfollowing in May 2019. The brothers confirmed that production will start in November of this year in Atlanta.
“We start shooting both of them later this year in November and we’re primarily going to be based in Atlanta again. That’s where we’ll do out stage work and some exteriors. There will be locations from around the world involved as well. We actually relocate to Atlanta in late July to finish up pre-production there. We don’t come back to L.A. until the following June. We’re shooting them concurrently, meaning that some days we’ll be shooting the first movie and some days we’ll be shooting the second movie. Just jumping back and forth. We won’t look like this next year.”
The brothers also recently stated that bothAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIwill focus onsecondary Avengers, hinting that some of these minor characters will become major players in Phase Four. What do you think about all of these new details? Hopefully we’ll find out more soon about this two-part movie, so stay tuned for more details.
