Earlier this month, we reported that theUntitled X-Files Revivalhaswrappedafter a three-month shoot. We’ve seen a number of photos during the course of production, but today we have news thatFoxwill debut a two-part trailer on Monday, September 28. The first half of the trailer will air duringGotham’s new episode,Knock, Knockat 8 PM ET, with the second half debuting duringMinority Report’s second episode,Mr. Nice Guyat 9 PM ET.
Of course, it isn’t known exactly what will be shown in this trailer, but the new footage may give bothGothamandMinority Reporta ratings bump. Fox has already announced thatThe X-Fileswill return with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC Championship Game, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).David DuchovnyandGillian Andersonreprise their iconic roles as AgentFox Mulderand AgentDana Scullyin the upcoming event series which will encompass a mixture of stand-alone investigative episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee.
Previously-announced guest stars for the six-episode series includedJoel McHale(Community),Robbie Amell(The Flash),Lauren Ambrose(Dig, Six Feet Under),Annabeth Gish(The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans),Rhys Darby(Flight of the Conchords),Kumail Nanjiani(Silicon Valley) andWilliam B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.” Three of the episodes are written and directed byChris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan andJames Wong.
The X-Filesoriginally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny), as they investigate unexplained cases -X-Files- for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.The X-Filesis a production of 20th Century Fox Television in association with Ten Thirteen Productions. Carter is executive producer and creator of the series. Glen Morgan also serves as an executive producer.
We also reported earlier this month that thepremiere episodewill debut at New York Comic Con on October 10, months before its debut on Fox. It isn’t known if this two-part trailer will debut online immediately after it airs on Fox, but we’ll keep you posted with all of the latest updates.
